What is a Credit Union?

Essentially, credit unions are financial institutions formed by an organized group of people with a common bond. Members of credit unions pool their assets to provide loans and other financial services to each other, allowing credit union members to borrow money and making loans for "prudent and productive purposes." Essentially, members borrow their own money and that of their friends and family.
